Bald Eagle

There is an Bald Eagles nest across the river from our property.  Its been there for years. I check in and out from time to time when in the area.

This time the Eagle was there, it was active due to my unwanted presence(I didn’t stay long).

Ohhh and it was loud(yup I was getting yelled at too, get OUT)! This is the 1st time in all the years….that I was able to capture some quick pictures! I was pretty impressed.

Plus, I am pretty sure there were eggs in the nest as the Eagle never flew far away and always came back!

Satisfyingly Obsessed Homemade Granola Bars!

Chocolate Cranberry Nut Flax Seed Granola Bars

I don’t consider myself a cook or a baker. I am not famous for a dish. My better half is much more creative in the kitchen than I.

We eat a lot of granola bars. Marcus has one every morning as he gets ready for work, as he needs something quick and easy to eat before he takes his medication.

Now….I suppose you wonder, why I would go to all the work to make these granola bar when it is some much easier to buy in the store, well here is my reasoning:

1st) The granola bars at the store are expensive.

2nd) They only out 5 or 6 in a box. Well then I need to shop 1 time a week or buy 2 boxes every week to stay ahead. And if we both eat one a day that 10 bars. So then that’s 2 boxes a week and then to avoid my every dread grocery purchase and shopping trip I would need to but 4 boxes a week, hope you see where I was going with that.

3rd) I do try to pay attention to the chemicals put in my body. I am not a health nut, just the opposite I suppose…..and I wont stop drinking a Coke once a day either, don’t care what’s in there……. I like it…..it taste good……so its good for me.

My sister Brittany was having a Pampered Chef party(online) the other week and I don’t normally participate in these types of thing. But I wanted to be a supportive sister. Plus, I find there products quite expensive, for your average hard working girl.

But I found this cute little gronola bar maker and just had to have it. Not sure why…..well I had good intentions I suppose. Lord knows it wasn’t cheap. And of course it sat in my cupboard for several weeks before I used it.

Anyways….this recipe was super easy! But definitely not super healthy! I didn’t really need to put all them chocolate chips in there, but I love chocolate.

1 and 1/2 old fashioned oats

Nuts- I threw in a handful of mixed nuts

Heated a pan on the stove and toasted the oats and nut until they were a little brown and fragrant

Poured then in bowl with 1 cup of chocolate chips.

(Only suppose to use 1 cup of add-in for this recipe). I added a few tbsp. of flax seed and a handful of dried cranberries. So way over the 1 cup of add-ins. (next time I will stick with the only 1 cup total of add ins)

Mix the oats, nuts, and add-ins togther

Then in a bowl melt 1 tbsp of butter(oil if you prefer), 1 tbsp of brown sugar, and 1/4 cup of honey(I use organic) in the microwave. One all melted together. Put in the oat mixture bowl and mix it all together.

Then I just scoop a spoonful of the mixture in the nice little pampered chef granola bar maker and pressed in there the best I could.

Put the cover on and put in the fridge for awhile to harden. Done….they taste pretty good.

Its a work in progress and they are not perfect and they may never be perfect. But they are perfect to me.

Wonderful Indoor Bow Shooting Range!

Marcus as you recall is my better half. He had been to the archery place last year to score bucks at some special event. Marcus is a scorer for Boone and Crocket.

Marcus is using my d-0111ad’s left handed bow and it broke last year. So he had decided that he would go to that Archery shop and get the bow fixed last week. The names of the place is https://whaletalesarchery.com/ in Dousman. He said it had an indoor range, it actually had a bar in it and they fix the bow for you right in the store. I figure it was a Saturday and they would be packed. Well they weren’t! He told me to take my bow along just in case……..in case what I think……in case my guy says they have an indoor shooting range and I think you might like it! I was nervous because I am just beginner, I have no special skills, I didn’t want people watching me, and of course I have never shot at an indoor range, so I didn’t know what to expect. Well I liked it. I was able to shoot at many different ranges. I was able to work on my breathing and strength. It was $15 bucks to shoot for like an hour or however long you wanted. Marcus was able to get some practice shots in as well. Which I am pretty sure he had fun doing. We both had a good time. Marcus was very helpful, patient and gave me lots of good advice. I was a happy girl, because Marcus could have went by himself and he waited so I was able to go. I did some pretty good shooting as well.

Who lives here?????

So…walking in the woods yesterday, I found this hole in a tree with all these twigs, leaves, and branches in front of it. I was quite fascinated by this hole and wondered what might live here. In my magical imagination I picture cute little fairy’s of the woods living in the little tree and what a wonderful home they must have….but seriously, what do you think??????

Dragon Carrots!

1st year growing Dragon Carrots! I was surprised how well they grew. They have a Red-purple skin and Yellow-orange interior. Very sweet, but said to have a hint of spice, which I haven’t noticed that yet!

Corn on the Cob!

1st corn on the cob of the year! Also the tallest corn we have ever had. A few weeks ago we were wondering why the corn was so tall but didn’t have any cobs. We figured the crop was a flop, because lets face it I am not a Master Gardener by any means! Well, Farmer Ronnie explained the corn growing process and said once the corn tassels the cobs will come and will start growing and growing fast….well low and behold that is exactly what happened! I got corn everybody. I have 2 different gardens with 1 block of corn in each garden and I got corn lots of corn and it is mighty tasty. Oh and I used heirloom seeds!

Asparagus and Dill!

Spring 2020.

Started my very own Dill and Asparagus garden this year. I have always planted dill in a container over the summer. We have a small patch of asparagus growing in my flower garden behind the house.

So this year I decided to start 2 little patches in the back yard nest to a small garden I got back there.

I will have to research how to keep the weeds at bay some next year.

I am hoping the asparagus holds through the winter and grows next year. I am excited about getting a great crop in a few years.
